John Morgan, a Junior, spends his free time being with his friends and family and is also a devoted lacrosse player. John is a stand-out lacrosse player and has recently committed to play for the University of Michigan: a division one school. He began playing lacrosse in the first grade and started travel-lacrosse in third grade. John fell in love with the creativity of the sport and the fact that it seems to combine all other sports into one. Since then, he has played for his primary school, club, travel, and varsity team. John joined Eastern’s varsity team as a freshman He has played with them since and never looked back. John has played on 5 different travel teams, having played all around the country. He puts in his work year-round and is always working to get better.
Since John was in the third grade, he has aspired to play lacrosse at the University of Michigan. Because both his father and sister attended UMich, he has always been drawn to the school and admires how well rounded it is between academics, athletics and campus life. Since John knew he wanted to play collegiate lacrosse at Michigan from such a young age, he did everything he could to make that dream come true. John worked very hard in lacrosse and spent his time getting himself noticed and in front of Michigan coaches and recruiters.
In Sophomore year, John experienced a significant setback: he broke his foot in a game. He was immediately nervous that his inability to play in his summer club league would harm his chances of achieving his dreams. The summer season is a prime recruiting time for schools. Now, this threatened his chances of getting picked up by a major college. After recovering and working hard, John was back to playing and continued to push for his dreams. He believed that because he had not played during the summer season that it would take him months to get serious again with Michigan. Little did he know that they were already eyeing him, and in the winter of John’s Junior year they offered him a spot on the team. Without hesitation, John committed to the University of Michigan. He is extremely excited to attend and play there and hopes to study business or engineering as a student in Fall 2021.
Make sure to congratulate John when you see him and get out to a Boys’ Lacrosse game this spring season to support the whole team!
