Mr. Persenaire, better known as “Mr. Tim,” has been selected as one of the ten finalists for the Cintas Custodian of the Year Award. He is a staff member at FHPS and works at Knapp Forest and Orchard View Elementary. He has been in the job for 37 years. The award is given to one person each year to recognize their incredible work, and the winner will be awarded $5,000 and the winner’s school will be award $5,000 in custodial supplies. The other nine runners-up will be given $500.
Here is a selection from Mr. Tim’s bio:
There’s no job too big or too gross for Mr. Tim, the custodian at two Grand Rapid elementary schools for nearly 40 years. This winter, students and faculty have had 13 snow days, but Mr. Tim has had none, always showing up early to shovel and salt sidewalks in freezing temperatures. He even created several large snow hills for students to play on during recess! Being only one of three custodians in two large school districts, Mr. Tim has an endless to-do list, but he always makes time for curious children – whether they want to know how to change a light bulb or how he builds the sets for an upcoming musical or play.
It is up to students, staff, and families to vote to have Mr. Tim become the 2019 Custodian of the Year. You are allowed to vote as many times as you wish. Voting will end on April 19th, and the winner will be announced in May. Please vote here:
Good luck, Mr. Tim!
