It’s everyone’s favorite week of the semester — exam week! In the final week of the semester, the optimal coping strategy is preparation. Here are some tips to ensure that you are adequately prepared.
Know the semester 1 exam schedule 2019 and plan to study accordingly.
Calculate the exam score that you need to maintain or reach your desired grade in each class. The high school’s final weight is 15% and the middle school’s is 10%. The exam scores that you need in each class should determine how you divide your study time.
Create a study schedule that prioritizes the subjects in which you need a higher score. Writing out a study schedule will encourage you to stick to it.
Avoid distractions. Seclude yourself somewhere quiet and away from people who will distract you. Some great places to study are
- the library
- a quiet room
- a coffee shop (check out our favorites!)
Take care of yourself. Try to get 8 hours of sleep each night and eat healthily. Some foods that are proven to increase memory retention include:
- dark chocolate
- pumpkin seeds
- green tea
Leverage your visual memory by associating words and names with images.
Study actively, not passively. Quizzing yourself instead of just reading over notes increases your chances of retaining the information.
Take a ten-minute study break every hour. Your brain needs to rest! Use this time to eat a snack or relax.
Make connections! Connecting new information to information that you already know increases the depth of understanding.
